Hau Truong has been on quite a journey with us, from ESL and Diploma to CTE, college and a new job! Since coming to the U.S. from Vietnam, he has taken full advantage of the resources available at HBAS.
Hau started in our ESL Program, hoping to get his English abilities to a point where he could move on to college. Just a few weeks into taking ESL classes, he enrolled in our ASE Program and began working toward his high school diploma. Wanting to continue his education, Hau then enrolled in and completed our Pharmacy Technician Program.
Hau has inspired HBAS staff, students and community partners while speaking at our Community Advisory Committee meeting and our 2019 Graduation Ceremony. During the ceremony, Hau received an $8,000 Simon Youth Foundation College Scholarship, which was then matched by a private donor. With help from our Job Developer, Hau was recently hired as a Pharmacy Technician. He will work part-time while continuing his education at Golden West College.
We are proud to have sent Hau off in pursuit of his dreams with a high school diploma, a job, and a $16,000 college scholarship. With his determination and ambition, the sky's the limit for Hau Truong!
