The Huntington Beach Adult School (HBAS), in collaboration with Memorial Care, will offer a free Medical Assistant Certification Program for students whose first language is not English. * Classes will begin on March 5, 2024.
This program is the latest initiative made possible through our close partnerships with local employers. Principal Steve Curiel shared, “We have made efforts to support English Learners in our career training courses before, but we are really excited about this new opportunity, which is specifically designed for English Learners who would like to be Medical Assistants.”
Throughout the program, HBAS will provide students with an ESL support instructor and access to an online program that allows every student to practice using English in the context of Medical Assisting.
Memorial Care will recruit students from the front offices of their own clinics to fill a third to half of the openings. The remaining spots will be filled by other interested applicants in our community.
