Pharmacy Technician instructor Allison Iglesias nominated Manerva as her 2022 Student of the Year. At the awards ceremony, she described Manerva Brown as "a kind-hearted person who always seeks to help her loved ones and classmates when in need." She added that Manerva simply “excels in everything she does.”
After working in customer service for several years, Manerva was ready for a new career. She completed her first Career Technical Education program in Medical Billing and Coding, and then returned to HBAS to pursue Pharmacy Technician training. Manerva finished in June 2021 with the highest grade in her class.
After her coursework at HBAS, Manerva completed an Externship at Harbor Compounding Pharmacy and was offered a full-time position. So far, Manerva's new job is going well. She shared "I've been training in the compounding lab the last couple of months, which was my goal for becoming a Pharmacy Technician in the first place.
When asked how her training at HBAS has helped me in my job, she explained that "it familiarized me with certain pharmacy terminology and drugs so that I wasn't completely oblivious when I entered the pharmacy." She added that she found compounding lab experiences most informative.
We're proud of how Manerva has set her sights on success and reached her goals. She has already proven to be a valuable asset in the pharmacy workplace. YOU could be next!
