Partner Spotlight: WFRC

Huntington Beach Adult School works in conjunction with many partners to assist our students with barriers to their academic or overall success in life.  One of these essential partners is the Westminster Family Resource Center (WFRC). A one-stop shop for local families, WFRC offers a wide variety of free services:

- Case Management and Family Advocacy
- Mental Health Services
- Domestic Violence Services
- Parenting Education Classes
- Basic Needs Emergency Assistance
- Food Distribution
- Health, Life Skills & Wellness Education
- Homeless Prevention & Rapid Rehousing
- Peer Navigation for Military & Veteran Families
- Youth Enrichment & Recreation Programs

HBAS Partner Coordinator Debbie Quintana recently sat down with WFRC Supervisor Gina Nunes to learn more about the Center and our collaboration. According to Gina, WFRC first connected with HBAS 4 years ago at one of our Community Advisory Council (CAC) meetings. Since that initial meeting, WFRC has participated in HBAS Job and Resource Fairs and CAC meetings. Their team has helped many of our students overcome barriers on their educational path.

The mission of Westminster Family Resource Center is “Building on Family Strength.” They also offer a safe haven for parents to drop off their children for homework help or Fun Fridays.  These events give the children first access to the many programs available. Gina explained, “We will walk beside them as they access the resources to benefit their families. Our goal is to support families as they strive to meet their own family goals.”

The HBAS Student Support Team is deeply grateful for the Westminster Family Resource Center’s vital work in our community. We are honored to work alongside WFRC to support our students.
