Since 2017, HBAS has been a proud and grateful partner of Asian American Advancing Justice Southern California, known as AJSOCAL for short. Learn more about this partnership from AJSOCAL Supervising Attorney, Joseph Navales. AJSOCAL holds Citizenship Clinics at HBAS, helping students and community members fill out citizenship applications and open cases with US Citizenship and Immigration Services. And of course, at every step, HBAS is there to make sure students have the necessary English-language skills to navigate the process.     To open our morning and evening ESL Promotion Ceremonies, Elizabeth Renteria sang a moving rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Elizabeth is an ESL student from our Twilight Program. She is living proof that learning a new language is possible, with a little courage and determination. Once she is done with our ESL program, she plans to get her GED and then further her education by going to college. Thanks to Elizabeth for her brave and beautiful performances, which created a special moment at our ceremonies.
