This Wednesday, HBAS Job Developer Arlene Flores hosted our first in-person Job Day since Covid. She's happy to report it was a success!
HBAS welcomed long-time partner Comfort Keepers to our Gothard Campus. Recruiter Arleen Medina shared current job openings with over 20 interested candidates. One student headed straight to our Student Center to fill out an online application on the spot, and is scheduled for an interview next week.
When another student expressed interest in our Pharmacy Technician program, Job Developer Arlene Flores walked her straight over to the class, explained what they do and how it's in demand. Now the student is ready to sign up for our next Career Info Session.
After over a year of virtual job events, it's fantastic to bring our students face-to-face with local employers. Arlene described these events as "an opportunity for people to get back to work and gain work experience for their resume." It's also a great way for ESL students to practice their English skills by approaching the table to ask questions. Arlene is proud of the students who attended this event and interacted with Comfort Keepers recruiter Arleen Medina.
HBAS plans to host more "job day" events in the weeks to come. While we don't know when we'll be able to host another large-scale job fair, we will continue to find safe ways to connect our students with our partners.
