Financial Aid

Learn how to apply for financial aid, whether you’re a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or undocumented student. Explore the FAFSA, the Dream Act, and other helpful resources.

💰 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

The FAFSA is for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens. It gives access to federal grants, loans, and work-study. Even if you're unsure you'll qualify for aid, it's worth applying!

🌐 California Dream Act (CADAA)

The CADAA is for undocumented or nonresident students who meet AB 540 requirements. It offers access to state financial aid like Cal Grants and fee waivers.

Scholarships vs. State & Federal Financial Aid

Scholarships and financial aid both help pay for college, but they are different. Scholarships are usually given for good grades, community service, or special groups, and you don’t have to pay them back. Financial aid (state/federal) is mostly based on family size and income. It can come as grants (do not need to be repaid), loans (need to be repaid), or work-study. Both are worth applying to!
